Bec Maher: Baby Sleep Consultant

Meet Bec Maher

Hi, I’m Bec Maher Certified Baby and Child Sleep Consultant, mum of three, and co-host of the Nap Trapped podcast.

After years working as a nanny in London and Sydney, I thought I was more than ready for motherhood. But when my first son was born in 2008, I quickly learned that caring for your own child is a whole new ballgame — no book, blog, or midnight Google rabbit hole can prepare you for it. That humbling (and sleep-deprived!) experience sparked a passion that’s grown into a career I truly love.

In 2014 I officially founded The Sleep Centre and became a qualified Baby and Child Sleep Consultant through the International Maternity and Parenting Institute (USA). Since then, I’ve completed advanced studies in infant sleep, become a certified Happiest Baby on the Block educator and have completed multiple courses. I now mentor sleep consultants worldwide and have worked with over a thousand families across Australia and internationally.

I’m now recognised as one of Australia’s leading sleep consultants and known for my calm, compassionate approach, and my signature 2 Week Sleep Solutions. I take pride in uncovering the why behind each family’s sleep challenges and delivering holistic, science-backed strategies that actually work.

In everything I do, whether it’s working one-on-one with families or co-hosting Nap Trapped  I bring warmth, empathy, and a dash of humour. I believe great sleep support is about more than naps and routines; it’s about trust, connection, and truly listening to what families need.

I an a proud member of the Association of Professional Sleep Consultants which is an organisation dedicated to supporting Professional Sleep Consultants by promoting and upholding the highest level of excellence and industry standards for professional sleep consulting throughout the world.

I am committed to ongoing learning, upholding safe practise and ensuring parents and children receive the help, care and sleep that they deserve.

My Philosophy

I believe that every family deserves a clear, personalised, and achievable path to better sleep — one that aligns with their unique values, comfort levels, and parenting style. Sleep is essential for your baby’s development and your family’s wellbeing, but knowing how to help your little one sleep can feel like an overwhelming mystery.

That’s where I come in.

As a Certified Baby and Child Sleep Consultant and a mum of three - I understand that sleep challenges are rarely about just one thing. In fact, there are often multiple  potential factors at play: distribution of calories, misaligned naps, reliance on parental support or simply an overtired baby who doesn’t know how to settle yet.

My role is to uncover the why behind your child’s sleep struggles.

Before your consultation, you’ll complete a detailed intake form and sleep log. I analyse this alongside your goals to uncover what’s really going on — and I design a completely tailored sleep solution that fits your family, your child, and your comfort levels. This process allows healthy, sustainable sleep habits to develop quickly and easily.

My holistic, science-based approach ensures that all the foundational elements for great sleep are aligned: age-appropriate routines, optimal nutrition, the right sleep environment, and sleep training technqes that suit your child’s temperament. In many cases, once those foundations are set, sleep begins to improve organically — with little or no formal “sleep training” required.

If sleep training is appropriate, you’ll be offered a range of responsive, supportive options — never a rigid or extreme method like “Cry It Out.” I believe babies and toddlers should always feel secure, supported, and reassured as they learn new skills.

Sleep support shouldn’t be a one-off conversation — it should be ongoing, practical, and encouraging. That’s why I offer 7-day support, including weekend check-ins. We’ll connect for quick, daily phone calls to review progress, celebrate wins, make tweaks, and adjust the plan in real time.

My goal is not just to “fix sleep” — it’s to empower you with understanding and confidence. When you know how sleep works, and why your child responds the way they do, you feel calmer, more capable, and more connected to the process.

If you’re ready to turn exhaustion into rest, stress into confidence, and chaos into calm — I’m here to help.

Let’s make sweet dreams a reality in your home.
